No Carbon Required (NCR) is a novel chemically reactive cryptochromatic carbon paper. It consist of a Coated Back (CB) coating on the upper page, a Coated Front Back (CFB) coating on the middle page, and a Coated Front (CF) coating on the lower page. The back of CB and CFB contains a colorless dye enclosed in a microcapsule, and the front of CFB and CF contains a substance that can chemically react with the microcapsule dye to develop color - CF color developer. When used, the pressure generated by writing or printing ruptures the microcapsule, and the dye comes into contact with the CF layer to produce bright colors, thereby revealing a handwriting image. In the CF layer, activated clay is commonly used raw material and main color developer, through the physical and chemical adsorption of the dye on the surface and between the layers of the clay. And it relies on its activity to make the functional groups of the dye form quinone-type large π bond organic groups and color.
