According to statistics: China's annual heavy metal additives for feed production reach 15~180,000 tons, of which about 100,000 tons are not used by animals and excreted with feces and urine. Among them, high doses of zinc also cause great distress to livestock themselves, such as nutritional antagonism, zinc poisoning, and increased bacterial resistance... Therefore, since the implementation of the new feed regulations, green aquaculture has become an industry consensus, and "anti-zinc reduction" is an urgent problem that needs to be solved in the domestic aquaculture industry at this stage.

The principle of action of the product:


The antibacterial sterilization mechanism of ZnO-MMT is attributed to the synergistic effect of the strong adsorption properties of montmorillonite and the bactericidal function of nano-zinc oxide.

Montmorillonite itself has no bacteriostatic or bactericidal effect, but can selectively adsorb bacteria and toxins; Nano zinc oxide can stimulate the production of active hydroxyl groups in the intestine, and the active hydroxyl group can further produce other reactive oxygen groups such as H2O2 through multi-step reaction, causing damage to bacterial cell membranes, proteins, and DNA, and then causing bacterial death. Therefore, through the super electrostatic adsorption capacity of montmorillonite, bacteria and toxins are adsorbed on montmorillonite, and then the nano-zinc oxide enriched on montmorillonite to directly perform a bactericidal effect on it.

At the same time, montmorillonite has the characteristics of sustained release and controlled release, so that the loaded nano-zinc oxide is continuously and slowly released in the animal intestine, which has a continuous bactericidal effect.

The montmorillonite structural layer inhibits the growth of nano-zinc oxide grains, so that the size of the synthesized nano-zinc oxide grains ≤ 100nm, which greatly increases the specific surface area, thereby enhancing the bactericidal and antibacterial effect of nano-zinc oxide.

4. Uniform and not easy to agglomerate of the particle size

Nano zinc oxide is inserted into montmorillonite layers or covered on its surface to form a stable intercalation peeling structure, which realizes the good dispersion of nano-zinc oxide on montmorillonite sheets, and solves the problem of agglomeration and poor dispersion of other forms of zinc oxide.

5. Efficient sterilization and antibacterial

Montmorillonite was used as the adsorption carrier to greatly improve its adsorption rate to bacteria. In this way, the bactericidal effect of nano-zinc oxide loaded on the surface and between layers is fully exerted, the bioavailability of zinc oxide is improved, and the effect of 1+1>2 is truly realized.

6. Target slow release

Under the strong adsorption, sustained release and controlled release properties of montmorillonite, the nano-zinc oxide inserted between the montmorillonite layers can be slowly released in the animal intestine, playing a continuous bactericidal and antibacterial role.

Product quality testing:

The results of ICP-OES detection showed that the zinc content of montmorillonite was 0.0071%, which was almost negligible. The zinc content of this product is 31.96%, which meets the production technical requirements.


From the SEM scanning electron microscopy picture, it can be seen that the surface load ZnO of montmorillonite is spherical structure, and the particle size is less than 100nm. And there are a lot of pores on the surface. From the TEM scanning electron microscopy picture, it can be seen that ZnO has been embedded in the montmorillonite layer, mainly short rod-like or short sheet structure, particle size less than 100nm.


Comparative Test report of ZnO-MMT TM on various Properties of Weaned Piglets:

① Purpose of the test:

Comparison of ZnO-MMT with ordinary zinc oxide and nano zinc oxide on diarrhea and other properties of weaned piglets.

② Test time and place:

The experiment was conducted on the pig farm of Jiangsu Rugao Boyi Animal Husbandry Co., LTD from April 5, 2021 to April 25, 2021. The experiment lasted for 21 days (14 days after weaning).

③ Experimental animals and methods:

A total of 192 weaned piglets were randomly divided into 4 groups with 4 replicates per group and 12 piglets (half male and half female) per replicate according to the same parity and similar body weight. At the end of the experiment, 4 pigs (a total of 16 pigs) with similar body weight were selected from each group and slaughtered for anatomy.

④ Experimental diet:

The experimental groups were supplemented with 3000mg/kg market ordinary zinc oxide, 1500mg/kg market nano zinc oxide and 600mg/kg ZnO-MMT on the basis of basic diet, respectively.

⑤ Test index:

Diarrhea rate, daily weight gain, daily feed intake, feed to gain ratio, intestinal flora and intestinal mucosa morphology, etc.


In the experimental data statistics of pig farms, we focused on the comparison of the effects of Zincyul on growth performance, intestinal flora in the contents of small intestine and colon, and the morphology of duodenum, jejunum and ileum mucosa of weaned piglets. The specific results are as follows:

1. Effects of ZnO-MMT on growth performance of weaned piglets

The results showed that, compared with the control group, the addition of ordinary zinc oxide, nano-zinc oxide or zincyol could significantly reduce the feed conversion rate and diarrhea rate. The ZnO-MMT effect is more significant, which indicates that ZnO-MMT can replace ZnO equally.

2. Effects on Intestinal Flora in Small Intestine and Colon Contents of Weaned Piglets (logCFU/g)

The adsorption, inhibition or killing effect of ZnO-MMT group on Escherichia coli and salmonella in ileum and colon was better than that of ordinary zinc oxide group and nano zinc oxide group. The main reason is that montmorillonite and nano zinc oxide in ZnO-MMT group can improve the adsorption ability of bacteria and bactericidal ability, which is also one of the reasons why ZnO-MMT group can significantly reduce the diarrhea rate of early weaned piglets.

3. Effects on Intestinal villus Height and Crypt Depth of Weaned Piglets (μm)

The villus length and crypt depth of ileum, jejunum and colon of piglets were measured by HE staining. Compared with ordinary zinc oxide group and nano zinc oxide group, the villus height, crypt depth and V/C value of ileum of piglets in ZnO-MMT group are higher on the whole, which indicates that ZnO-MMT group can effectively improve the intestinal morphology and structure of piglets and improve the intestinal digestibility of piglets.

Use Testimonials:

The zinc content is about 300 grams per kilogram of product and is specially designed for piglets.

• It is recommended to add 1.5 ~ 2.5 kg/ton in the first two weeks after weaning (can replace the conventional zinc oxide dosage);

• Piglets (≤ 25kg) are recommended to add 0.5 ~ 1 kg/ton.
